Polyurea Floor Coatings in Paradise Valley, AZ

  • Impact tolerant
  • Flexible
  • Fast set

Polyurea is the base coat we reach for when a floor will be worked hard. It sets fast, bonds well to properly ground concrete and has a bit of flex, so it handles dropped tools, rolling jacks and the expansion and contraction of a slab that heats up every afternoon.

We use it in workshops, busy multi-car garages and anywhere toughness matters more than anything else.

What you get

Why a flexible base matters.

Concrete moves. It expands in heat, shrinks as it cools and shifts slightly over time. A rigid coating can crack or chip where the stress concentrates. Polyurea has more elongation than epoxy, so it can move a little with the slab and absorb impact rather than chipping.

In most of our polyurea systems, the polyurea forms the base and body, often with flake, and a polyaspartic clear goes on top for UV stability and abrasion resistance.

Paradise Valley notes

Slabs that heat up every day.

A garage slab in Paradise Valley can swing a long way in temperature between a summer afternoon and the following dawn. Over years that movement stresses rigid coatings. Polyurea's flexibility is a good match for it. Because it sets quickly, especially on warm concrete, we plan batch sizes and start times carefully through the summer.

Install day

How a polyurea floor goes in.

Polyurea needs an open, clean concrete profile, so grinding is thorough. Cracks are filled and ground flush. The base goes down in sections, flake is broadcast if chosen, and the floor is scraped and vacuumed before the clear.

Many garages and shops are finished in a day or two. Your cure sheet gives dates for foot traffic, equipment and vehicles.

Pricing

What goes into the price.

Polyurea is a premium material and needs careful installation. These are the main factors.

  • AreaLarger floors need more crew to work within the set time.
  • PrepThorough grinding is required for a reliable bond.
  • FinishFlake, solid color and markings each change material and labor.
  • TopcoatA polyaspartic clear adds UV stability and another layer.

Afterward

Keeping it in shape.

Sweep regularly and mop with a neutral cleaner. In a workshop, use a degreaser approved for coated floors on oil spots and rinse after. Put mats under welding areas, since hot slag can mark any coating.

Questions

Polyurea Floor Coatings: quick answers.

Anything else on your mind? Add it to your request and we will answer when we call.

Send your question
Is polyurea the same as polyaspartic?

They're related. Polyaspartic is a type of polyurea with a slower, more workable reaction. We often use polyurea as a base and polyaspartic as the clear.

Is it stronger than epoxy?

It's more flexible and impact-tolerant. Epoxy is more rigid. Which is better depends on the floor.

Can it be installed in summer?

Yes, with careful timing. It sets faster on a hot slab, so we work early and in smaller batches.

Does polyurea make sense in a home workshop?

It's one of the best choices for workshops because of its impact and chemical resistance.

Will it hide cracks?

Filled cracks are hidden. Its flexibility helps with minor movement, but active cracks can still show over time.

Does it need a topcoat?

We usually add a polyaspartic clear for UV stability and abrasion resistance.
